Face to Face Day 3 is January 12!

Can you believe it is that time again? This one really snuck up on me! The agenda for our third day of redelivery can be found on the portal. We will use blackdouglas.com for the model technology learning experience. Please make sure you have finished stage two of your unit before we meet and posted your reflection on a techno-instructional strategy to this blog. This day is just for fourth grade teachers. Our last collaborative session, which includes everyone, will be February 9th. In the meantime, please continue to create and administer tests on the GA On-line Assessment System. Each time you give a test, remember to update your spreadsheets. Happy New Year!

Technology Reflection: Click Clock!

After attending the first collaborative session, I showed my kids the Problem of the Day that was shown during the meeting. Both classes loved the elasped time activity from the National Library of Virtual Manipulatives. In fact, they liked it so much that I added it to my blog so that they would be able to locate the activity easily at school and away from school. I think that they like it because the activity offers an obtainable challenge and immediate feedback. I like it because it reinforces a real-world concept that I don't always have time to teach.

Reflections on the BAM activities in Collaborative Session 2

For each of the BAM activities, teachers will need to record positive, negative and interesting things about the activities. To do this please use the PMI sheet.

Geometer's Sketchpad

If you will visit Geometer Sketchpad Tutorial it will help you navigate your way around the new Geometer Sketchpad techno-instructional strategy download. This tutorial has been provided by another wonderful ETTC person! This is really a great tool to use in your classroom.

Techno-Instructional Strategy

I found a great webquest called "My Ocean Field Trip." The kids had a great time doing the activity and really got interested in all of the facts they discovered about ocean exploration. Tramline is also a great site for other field trips (webquests) that address some of our Science GPS!

Collaborative Session 2

Our second collaborative session is Thursday, December 8th. We will begin the session with a problem of the day. We will then reflect upon constructing and adminstering our first tests using the Georgia On-line Assessment System. Allison will show a new techno-instructional strategy that is available (must be downloaded) from the GaDOE portal. We will complete three activities from the Concord BAM's (Balanced Assessment of Mathematics). Winona will wrap up the day with some websites that are recommend by the GaDOE.
Please remember to turn in your techno-instructional strategy reflection form before Thursday. In addition please remember bring a print out of your OAS results and student samples from the "Bus Route" activity to the session. We will meet in the technology lab on third grade hall. See you then!
IF YOU HAVE DIFFICULTY OPENING A FORM FROM THE LINKS ABOVE, YOU CAN FIND THE FORMS ON THE "S" DRIVE IN THE "MATH LAB" FOLDER OR YOU CAN GET THE FORMS DIRECTLY FROM THE EMATH PORTAL.
